Fear of needles?
I’d like to demystify any fear of needles you may have. You can now enjoy the benefits of acupuncture without having to experience any pain. I do a combination of both Japanese Acupuncture and Laser Acupuncture.
What is Pain-free Japanese Acupuncture?
I remember experiencing my first Japanese acupuncture session and loving the fact that no pain was induced. Instead my whole body relaxed and unfurled. I thought “this is what I’m looking for… “ I went on to do 2 years of apprenticeship in the Japanese style. Japanese Acupuncture uses the very finest of needles, only 0.12 mm. Most acupuncturists would use needles with a thickness of 0.25 or 0.30mm, so you can see the needles I use are nearly a third of the size. There’s no need to use a hammer in energetic medicine! These needles get the job done without inducing any pain. This makes for a pleasant, relaxing experience. So if you’re scared of needles, please consider this style of acupuncture. My clients are always pleasantly surprised after their first acupuncture experience just how relaxing it is. This is wonderful for stress reduction as well as helping particular ailments.
What is Laser Acupuncture?
Pain-free Laser Acupuncture and Laser Therapy utilises light to stimulate the acupuncture points instead of needles. This is ideal if you are scared of needles and also for children. Light of particular frequencies fine tune the meridian system.
What is the difference between Chiropractic, Physiotherapy and Acupuncture?
We are all unique and some people prefer different modalities like Physiotherapy or Chiropractic depending on how their body responds.
The style of acupuncture that I practice as taught by Sensei Okuma Katsuhiko is an alternative to having an “adjustment.” Interestingly enough, Katsuhiko practiced chiropractic in Japan and later practiced as an acupuncturist. He found acupuncture effective in gently realigning the body without manipulations required. Acupuncture can also help to relax stubborn, stiff muscles before Chiropractic and enable “adjustments” to happen more easily.
Physiotherapy work on the muscles manually and through exercises. In contrast, Acupuncture works on the meridian system which energises all other systems of the body like the nervous system and musculo-skeletal system. Laser Therapy uses bioresonance and biofrequency. For example, a certain frequency is used for muscles. This is the bioresonance of healthy muscle tissue. When this biofrequency is administered in Laser Therapy or photomedicine, the muscle uses this energy and frequency at a cellular level and then resonates at a healthy rate once again. This results in regeneration, improved function and circulation.
Is it safe?
Yes, needles are single-use and discarded after use. Laser Acupuncture is safe too.
What can Acupuncture treat?
There are so many conditions that Acupuncture can help.
Women’s health: irregular menstruation, PMS, fertility, pregnancy support, natural labour induction, IVF support, menopause.
Addiction, quit smoking, weight loss
Depression, insomnia, anxiety, stress, PTSD.
Digestion patterns: IBS, bloating, indigestion, constipation.
Pain management, neck pain, headaches, migraines, sinus congestion
All musculo-skeletal conditions: low back pain, sports injuries.
Dermatology: facial rejuvenation, acne, psoriasis, eczema
What can I expect in a treatment?
The initial consultation is 45 minutes. I will ask you questions about your health and find out more about your unique health patterns. You will receive a treatment during this time too.
Follow-up treatments are usually 30 minutes.
How many treatments will I need?
Initially most people will have 2 treatments per week for the first 2 weeks, then 1 treatment per week for the next 2 weeks. This is the best way to get results and rebalance your system. After that, treatment may be once per week or if you have responded well, every 2-4 weeks. Most people love having treatments and decide to have a maintenance treatment once a fortnight or once a month. Prevention is the best cure! So having regular treatment is the most beneficial way.
