Laser Acupuncture / Low Level Laser Therapy
LLLT (Low Level Laser Therapy) is the application of red and near infra-red light to give relief for both acute and chronic pain, injuries, non-healing wounds and ulcers, inflammation and joint conditions like arthritis.
It can improve function of damaged neurological tissue, it also reduces post-operative pain and is often used as an alternative to needles for acupuncture. LLLT dramatically reduces musculoskeletal pain. This is not a heat treatment; the effects are photochemical- like photosynthesis in plants. It can affect cell membrane permeability and aid the production of ATP. ATP transports chemical energy within cells for metabolism thereby providing the cell with more energy, which in turn means the cell is in optimum condition to play its part in a natural healing process.
Treatment is quick, pain-free, easy to apply and effective. Appropriate probes are placed on the skin at particular points on or relating to the damaged area and light, which is controlled for wavelength, power, pulsing rate and duration passes into the tissue. Depending upon the condition to be treated, each clinic appointment will take between 30 and 45 minutes, once or twice per week. The patient will feel nothing at the point of application, but many report a wonderful relaxed feeling. Patients respond quickly when treating soft tissue conditions and pain, with results usually evident in the first 1-2 treatments. Other conditions vary.
LLLT has undergone over 1000 published laboratory studies and is already proven in over 100 successful randomised double blind controlled clinical trials. These trials include osteoarthritis, tendinitis / tendinopathies and other sports injuries, back and neck pain, diabetic foot and venous ulcer wound healing.
Laser Therapy is based on the principle of bioresonance and uses biofrequency. For example, a certain frequency is used for muscles. This is the bioresonance of healthy muscle tissue. When this biofrequency is administered in Laser Therapy or photomedicine, the muscle uses this energy and frequency at a cellular level and then resonates at a healthy rate once again. This results in regeneration, improved function and circulation.
Laser resonance therapy uses the appropriate frequency for the particular problem or tissue. Laser acupuncture and laser auricular therapy is where the principles of Chinese medicine together with focused light as the medium treats the acupuncture points. Especially in auricular therapy the points used are regulatory, adaptogenic, or normalizing. For example, the “hunger point” is used for excessive hunger or anorexia.
